There’s power in numbers

Only 12% of managing directors at private equity firms are women.1 And yet, gender-balanced private capital teams perform better, earn higher valuations, and have reduced failure rates.2,3 Private equity is overdue for change.

What started as a belief that the profile of senior women in private equity needed amplifying has grown into a powerful movement with an unshakeable commitment to elevate more women into decision-making positions.

A note from our founding chair

“When the Private Equity Women Investor Network was founded by a very special group of 12 women over 18 years ago, there were far fewer senior women in the industry, and it was very rare that female professionals had opportunities to work together or to network. The idea behind PEWIN was to provide opportunities for women to do business together, develop professional networks and to increase the profile of female leaders in the private equity industry. PEWIN has had an extraordinary impact on my own career and that of so many of our members, and it is abundantly clear that women benefit immensely from sharing their experiences and supporting and celebrating each other. PEWIN aims to continue this legacy of finding creative ways to increase the number of women in positions of power in the private equity and thereby bring about better outcomes for all members of our industry.”
